The Arsenal and the Conton Cement Works will in future

Cloth and children's toys of Japanese manufacture now find no purchasers in Canton.

A telegram has been received from Liang Shih-yi to the effect that although Kuangtung is not directly affected by the Japanese demands, the province should render itself independent of Japanese goods by doing everything possible to encourage native industry. Any action likely to give Japan ground for complaint, should, however, be avoided.
